Factory in Quebec to build electric car

Somewhere between your average car and a golf cart lies a middle ground of vehicles; low power, low or zero emission, quick trip vehicles that are not designed for road trips but for grocery trips. Reader CR sent in a tip (thanks!) that, according to CCN Matthews, a factory in St. Jerome, Quebec will soon be producing ZENN vehicles that fit into this middle ground vehicle type. Feel Good Cars will deliver ZENN, which stands for zero emission, no noise, vehicles to dealers this summer. FGC calls the ZENN a neighborhood vehicle and a "perfect new urban vehicle". CR says St. Jerome was chosen for the many electric parts manufacturers and R&D experts there. Feel Good Cars says the ZENN will fall under LSV (Low Speed Vehicle) legislation passed by 44 states, the District of Columbia and the Canadian federal government and will soon have an interactive map on their website that links to local laws regarding this welcome middle ground vehicle.

It's about time the government of Canada woke up to this century. It's time to throw away all those old ideas and move forward. Why should we be held hostage to the oil companies? They've finally met their match and we will break free from their chains.

I live in an area with six percent grade hills. Will this car perform adequately in this terrain? Thank you.

1) These "cars" do not meet Highway traffic standards. They meet golf cart standards for use on private property. They do not meet crash or speed standards, only lighting. They would be a hazard on the open road.
2) The oil companies have nothing to do with this. To suggest that they do only exemplifies your complete lack of understanding of the petro chemical business. There is nothing new in this vehicle, the batteries are too heavy and carry too low a charge density for this to be a viable alternative.
3) No, this car will not perform adequately in your terrain, or any other open road terrain.
This is an advanced golf cart. It will be an excellent choice for gated communities and inner city use. If it is allowed on the road it must be severely restricted, akin to the way mopeds are now.

The problem with the zenn and any other car that will come out these days is that the gouvernment of quebec has a law to accept electric cars but only of 50KM per hour ans less. So what is the problem? It's easy... The government only wants to project a nice image with the urban scene. The rest can just hang out to dry.
Go see in google the CIE "les voitures electriques du quebec". They can convert your vehicle to electric and still keep all your security features and all the rest and you will be able to make thousands of dollars in savings per year.

What is wrong with our so called Government?
I'll tell you what I think!
If the oil companies didn't have this govnmt in their back pockets this product would be available to the Canadian who wants it.
It meets the current standards.
So as said by the ministry of transportation, these standards will be revised. No doubt to make sure this product doesn’t comply.
