Meijer to offer E85 at 20 Michigan stores
The
handful of E85 refueling locations currently available in Michigan are soon to get some significant competition. The Detroit Free Press reports
Meijer, a Midwest grocery chain, will be offering E85 at about 20 of their stores by the end of 2006. Meijer is working
with GM and CleanFuel USA, an E85 fueling equipment manufacturer, to identify which stores will sell E85. There are
currently only five stations in Michigan selling E85. The state of Michigan is one of the nation’s leading
producers of corn, but currently only has one ethanol plant producing 45 million gallons a year. Four additional plants
are due within two years.[Source: Detroit Free Press]

The internal combustion engine 'breaths' my air, and now it 'eats' my food?
I can't help wondering if E85 is just a new way to extend farm subsidies to companies like ADM (supermarket to the world).
