Lazy man's biodiesel production
While Sebastian
and his roommate are piecing together their home-built apple seed
biodiesel processor, I would prefer a stack of micro reactors under development at
Oregon State University. The small device pumps vegetable oil and alcohol through tiny channels, and converts the oil
into biodiesel almost instantly. The micro reactor basically eliminates the need for a number of steps required for
traditional biodiesel production, making it faster and less involved. This could make it feasible for biodiesel
production at each farm, eliminating the need for distribution, but further research is needed to make it commercially
feasible.[Source: The Mercury News]
