Honda announces price of 2006 Civic GX compressed natural gas vehicle

Today we delved a bit deeper into the relationship a group of nuns has with their Honda Civic GX compressed natural gas cars, and it's good timing since Honda just announced the price of the 2006 Civic GX: $24,440. There are up to $5,000 worth of tax credit associated with buying this car, four grand for the vehicle and a thousand for the home-fueling apparatus.
The 2006 Civic GX is a 5-speed automatic with all of Honda's standard safety features and has about 10 percent more power than the previous model. Honda says the GX is the only vehicle certified by the EPA to meet the Federal Tier 2-Bin 2 and the Inherently Low Emission Vehicle (ILEV) zero evaporative emission certification standards.

Too bad more CNG powered cars aren't available. I'd be interested in buying a CNG car and setting up the necessary hardware in my garage to run one of these things. I think you save a lot of money.
The problem is the civic is a cheap, noisy, small, cramped, nasty car. It's uncomfortable to drive long distances and no fun on winding roads either. I'd love to see a CNG european sports sedan, V8 muscle car, sportscar, or a practical SUV....but, as a car enthusiast, I wouldn't be caught dead behind the wheel of a boring econobox.

Joe: you could always get an econobox for the quotidian driving and get a fun car for the few thousand miles a year you're likely to get to drive it. The reason these advances are always in cheap, noisy, small, (not particularly) cramped cars is that it's a lot easier to demonstrate high fuel economy in a light car. A viable CNG/hybrid/electric sportscar would be nice, though.
My question is, how long does it take to fill the tank? I have NG in my house, but no garage or driveway. I could park the car in the back alley for a little while, but certainly not overnight.
