Toyota addresses Congress on hybrids
Ethanol was just getting entirely too much attention, so Toyota Motor Company is back on its soap box hawking hybrids and demanding equal time. The automaker addressed Congress on Wednesday, hoping to offset the support Detroit automakers are receiving over their push toward E85 fuel and remind everyone out there of the importance of hybrids. The automaker announced it could make one million hybrids a year, more than doubling the number of hybrids on the road in the United States today and contributing to lessening the country's dependence upon foreign oil. General Motors, Ford Motor Company and the Chrysler Group have all pledged to increase their hybrid investments as well, but neither will come close to knocking Toyota off as king of that particular hill.

Innovation, innovation and innovation is what is needed the most for our American auto makers. Not only paying attention to the quarterly WallStreet demands and EPS. without the innovation the AAM are history. Who'd of thought that Toyota will surpass GM?! The patriotism is strong, but the economics dictates where we spend our cash. Think about that AAM and innovate and invent, then win this circle of competition.

"The automaker announced it could make one million hybrids a year, more than doubling the number of hybrids on the road in the United States today and contributing to lessening the country's dependence upon foreign oil."
And thereby increasing our dependency on foreign manufacturing. What's the difference? No difference.
"Think about that AAM and innovate and invent, then win this circle of competition."
Ah, the new American way. Instead of seeing a deficiency (as in what is deficient with AAM) and then building a better (American) mouse trap 99.99% of Americans will instead COMPLAIN or chastise those who actually DO (the manufacturing, i.e. the AAM). Yes, at the turn of the century Americans would have thought such thoughts (that the AAM is deficient) and would have started their own company to do the winning. No, not now, this is new America. I know, maybe we could create a video game with simulates beating Toyota instead, that's much easier.
