One more diesel US is not getting: Chrysler 300C
While the standard Chrysler 300C with the Mercedes sourced 3.0 liter CRD engine has been available in Europe since the beginning of 2006, the Chrysler 300C CRD Touring was just introduced in the UK. If you check out the full article, you'll notice that the 300C Touring is basically a Dodge Magnum with a Chrysler 300C front end. The Chrysler 300C is one of the few American cars that gets halfway decent reviews across the pond, and the version with the V6 diesel engine is generally considered as the engine of choice for the car. While the diesel engines gives the car less straight line speed compared to the Hemi engine, for real-world use where torque is the name of the game, the diesel is the answer. On top of reducing fuel consumption, the diesel engine version is also considerably cheaper than the Hemi powered variant. I sure hope DaimlerChrysler brings this one over to the US as well.

Considering the diesel 300's are built in Canada it would not be so hard as to fly up north and drive one back. It's too bad the car cannot pass a California smog check, otherwise I'd buy one quickly.
But what really makes the 300C fantastic is the passing power of the HEMI 5.7; its on par with a bentley from the 40-80mph acceleration.

But doesn't the new low-sulfur diesel fuel being gradually introduced in the U.S. still contain more sulfur than the diesel fuel in Europe? If so, this car couldn't be driven without modifications even in the 45 U.S. states without California emissions restrictions.

European-built Chrysler 300C Saloon and Touring production at Magna Steyr’s manufacturing facility in Graz, Austria. The 300C Sedan and Touring models are now assembled on the same Chrysler Group production line that currently builds the Jeep® Grand Cherokee, the Chrysler Voyager and the Chrysler Grand Voyager with the exclusive Stow ‘n Go™ seating and storage system.
P.S. US diesel, is going from 500PPM to 15PPM, The same as europe. http://www.whnet.com/4x4/diesel.html
Incorporating a third shift, the Chrysler 300C Saloon and Touring will be built in the same body shop as the Jeep Grand Cherokee. All Chrysler Group vehicles at the plant will share the same trim, chassis and final lines. About 2,000 employees will work on production of Chrysler and Jeep vehicles, 600 of whom were hired additionally for the 300C vehicles. All of the plant’s employees have been carefully trained to work with the new 300C-related equipment and processes, ensuring a smooth transition and consistent production quality from the start.

If all of the d---ed Environmental Pukes and their sycophantic liberal politician friends in the USA had their heads on right maybe we would now have far more of the PRACTICAL, technologically advanced Diesel vehicles already available to the Europeans. In the mean time a great many of us will just keep driving our old wastefull, smog producing gasoline powered crap until we can get this good stuff!
