Joe Connor travels American in search of baseball and vegetable oil

Freelance sports writer Joe Connor is setting out on a road trip this summer (and fall) to visit 260 baseball parks in 215 days. His vehicle of choice? A two-tank 1984 Mercedes running on diesel and straight vegetable oil. Connor is planning on traveling over 40,000 miles to promote renewable fuels on his "Fuel of Dreams" tour. AutoTrader announced Monday they would sponsor his trip.

Connor says in a press release that, "Spending a summer driving cross-country, from stadium-to-stadium, watching baseball games has been a life-long dream of mine. To fulfill that dream while promoting an awareness of the need for America to reduce its dependency on foreign oil makes this trip all the more rewarding." Connor has written for ESPN.com, FOXSports.com and MLB.com.
