Detroit Diesel's Series 60 engine will meet EPA standards
The Detroit Diesel Corporation has seen the results, and has got good news to share with the trucking community. The company's new Series 60 heavy diesel engines recently underwent in-use emissions testing and should be able to meet new, strict EPA standards. The emissions testing process isn't just for freshly-made engines, as the "emissions standards must be demonstrated over the useful life of the engine, which is 435,000 miles for heavy-duty diesel engines." The testing Detroit Diesel did was all voluntary and was conducted on a 2004 Series 60 engine with 360,000 miles on it.Related:
