Harry Reid says America needs "crash course" in alternative fuels
Nevada Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid gave a speech today in the Senate in support of the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (S.3711), which would open more of the Gulf Coast to oil drilling. Reid said the bill wouldn't solve our long-term problems, though, and said, "We need to quickly bring much more fuel efficient cars and trucks to market and really promote energy efficiency and conservation." No kiddin', Harry. Reid said that Democrats are ready now to "fund an Apollo Project-like effort on energy." Reid said the Bush Administration "still hasn't gotten around to issuing loan guarantees to build new biofuels plants" and that "This country needs a crash course to develop alternative and renewable energy". Why is it that so many people think the answer to the coming energy crunch is even more government meddling? Part of the reason for the current situation is insanely stupid laws like tax breaks for buying Hummers and making it ILLEGAL to ship OTR tractor-trailer rigs by rail. So far, government meddling has obscured the true costs of Political Correctness, and not much else.

The proper way to start that paragraph would have been "Senate minority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) gave a speech today..."
Not that I really care, just some constructive criticism. The way you phrased it kind of makes you seem like an amateur.

I live in Nevada, and I have actually been next to his car while on the road...a Lexus LS430. EPA of 18/25 and a fairly low 'Air Pollution Score'
Not that I really care, just shows that hypocrisy is still as much in politics as in Hollywood.

"ILLEGAL to ship OTR tractor-trailer rigs by rail"?
Do you mean complete T-T rigs? I have often seen trailers on trains (minus the tractor).
