BP America will work with Schwarzenegger on greenhouse gas bill
Last week, California politicians (Gov. Schwarzenegger and state Democrats, mostly) reached an agreement on a massive greenhouse gas emissions law. Yesterday, BP America announced it will work with the Governor to "develop workable, market-based strategies for implementation of climate change legislation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout California".BP America is eager for a market-based way to lower emissions and has supported "cap and trading" programs in other areas (like the EU) for some time. BP releases an annual BP Sustainability Report. And BP has worked with Gov. Schwarzenegger in the past, as well. In July, the company hosting the Governor and British Prime Minister Tony Blair at a Climate Change Meeting and in 2004, Schwarzenegger unveil the first BP-branded retail–designed hydrogen site in America.

I read somewhere that BP accounts for 20% of all gasoline sales in the State of California through their BP gas stations as well as their extremely popular and lower-priced ARCO (Atlantic Richfield Corp) and Thrifty stations. That's some power. 1 out of every 5 gallons of gas in the state are sold by BP!
