Michigan organizations get grants for technology and jobs; green car tech supported
The state government of Michigan announced the grant and loan recipients of the state's 21st Century Jobs Fund Wednesday, and ethanol and hybrid technology groups were among the winners, according to the Lansing State Journal. Altogether, the state gave $100 million to 61 organizations statewide. These projects are expected to create 3,161 jobs. Michigan State University received $13.1 million in grants, more than any other organization. Two green car-related grants were $1.4 million for "Advanced combustion systems for ethanol fueled engines using microelectronic control" and $2.4 million for "Development and demonstration of a low-cost hybrid drive train for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles". These two programs will create two and fifty jobs, respectively.

It has to be sustained - going out there and pushing people to come up with great ideas.
