Paris Motor Show: Honda Civic Hybrid Sports concept car tucked away in the back

Eric Bryant, part of the Autoblog team covering the Paris Motor Show, found the Honda Civic Hybrid Sports concept car snuggled in a back corner and sent us these pictures. What's interesting is that even though this concept seems to have debuted at the '05 Toyko show, there's very little coverage of it around, aside from some pictures. What that means is that we don't have a lot of information on what power train is inside the slick blue Civic Hybrid Sports. Maybe Honda doesn't know either, as their placard describes the exterior, not the hybrid guts. Seems like everyone likes to put this car in the back corner. Maybe we'll get more information soon and pull the car into the limelight. You can see more pictures after the jump.

If the Civic Hybrid and the RSX had a love child, you'd get this.

I love the color and that "special blue paint". The rest of the car is. . . reasonably attractive, but not the most exciting or distinctive thing I've seen. It does look like a pretty efficient package for a four-door. We really need to know what's under the hood and get some specifications. If this were a nice performing BEV or PHEV then I could get excited about it. If it's merely a powertrain taken from a Honda Insight, then ho-hum says I.

Now this is a great looking hybrid car unlike the Toyota P, I agree that is a good shade of blue.

This design of Civic I like more than all the previous ones ;) When to expect this concept to be put on production line?

I have a feeling we are going to see those headlights, bumpers, and taillights in the next facelifted Civic.

Those are the head and taillights that feature on all Thai-built Civics, which are sold here in Australia. Nothing new.
Love the paint job, though.

Acura sells a version of the Civic in Canada call the CSX. That car has the same front and rear styling as this car shown in Paris. check out the link

Why would you want to move from the US quad beam headlights HB3/HB4 (which are weak compared to the mazda3's) to dual beams H4, or single beam HID reflectors.
Downgrades already, pass.

This isn't "the next" Civic. This is the Civic for other parts of the world that has been available for 2 years now. As Toga333 pointed out, drive to Toronto and check out the Acura CSX, which is what this car is called in Canada, and has been called there for a while. The Hybrid part is new, but they're probably just using this body to get a feel for how people would like a sport oriented hybrid.

This is the same model of civic (called 'new civic') sold in Brazil since the beginning of this year...But the paint, the spoiler, the rims and the carbon fiber detail on front are beautiful. So bad it will take decades to arrive in Brazil :o(

Simple. This appears to be a test market exercise testing "public interest" or "public apathy".I will ring Honda Australia and ask them if this model is to bought to Australia, suggest you could do the same in Canada & in The States. They log all phone calls.
