U.S. House of Representative moves ahead with clean energy legislation
With elections less than a month away, U.S. lawmakers are eager to show constituents some measure of success. Biofuels, especially ethanol, have proven popular recently, but there is a general push for alternative energies going on in American politics. At the end September, the U.S House of Representatives passed a bill, H.R. 6203, that gives support to all sorts of alternative transportation energy sources: plug-in hybrid vehicles, solar energy and biofuels. This biofuels news was slightly eclipsed by other, more tawdry, news that came out of the House last week, so don't feel too bad if you missed it.
The bill will try get the Department of Energy and the National Institute of Standards and Technology to find ways to move new energy sources through existing infrastructure. This will not be easy. H.R. 6203 even tacitly admits as much with the provision that will give fuel suppliers a way to test the sulfur content of new Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel that has moved through the country's infrastructure. Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel is supposed to be, well, ultra low in sulfur, but residual sulfur left in the infrastructure as it exists today can seep into the new fuel.

Good tendency. Government support is on of the most determinative factors that are capable of moving toward making a reality of alternative energy projects.
