2006 Xebra electric car auction on eBay ends today

A virtually brand new Xebra EV is about to end its time on the eBay shopping block. The three-week old zero-emission trike is in pretty much new condition but currently has no bids at an opening price of $7,900 (new, these cars sell for around nine grand). The seller claims to be in the Air Force and since he (or she. Jesse is such an ambiguous name) will be changing bases soon, the car has got to go. AutoblogGreen readers probably already know all about the 40mph, 40-mile range Xebra, but if you want more info you can check out Zap's webite. The last Xebra on eBay sold for $10,800. Where did all those bidders go?

The best way to describe the Concours d’Elegance is NASCAR meets the Kentucky Derby. The variety of people is as vast as the portfolio of cars. The four-day event is filled with auctions, manufacturer exhibits, automotive memorabilia, and displays of unique cars. The show culminates with the judging of the Concours competition, and this year a 1935 Duesenberg SJ Special was named “Best of Show.”

Why isn't this one selling? The previous Xebra was succesfully auctioned with black Zebra stripes over white paint. Who wouldn't want to drive a Xebra with zebra stripes? (don't everyone answer at once....)

One problem is that ebay motors has been hacked through a fairly well-know security hole. Bidding on ebay motors is very risky at this time. See http://auctionguild.blogspot.com/2006/10/ebay-motors-hijacked.html
