EPA urging nation's businesses to use renewable fuels
The Environmental Protection Agency is encouraging businesses to try ethanol and biodiesel. A new voluntary initiative announced by EPA administrator Stephen Johnson is called the SmartWay Grow & Go program. The goal is to get 25 perecent of businesses already in the EPA emissions reductions program to use renewable fuels by 2012. That number jumps to 50 percent in 2020. GM was one of the first companies to join. The General is already heavy into promoting its E85 vehicles and says four million flex-fuel vehicles will be on the ground by 2010. Companies with high-mileage delivery or transport fleets will be major targets of the initiative.
