Green questions may appear on British driving tests

British officials from the Driving Standards Agency want people taking licensing tests to answer "green questions." They may be asked about using a bicycle or public transportation. Other questions involve choosing between a 4x4 or a small car and opening a window rather than using air conditioning. The government isn't requiring green choices but simply making sure drivers know their options and the value of their choices. Right now the proposal is tied to the written theory portion of the test, but there are suggestions of incorporating environmental concerns into the on-road test. Drivers would be encouraged to drive smoother and avoid harsh acceleration or unnecessary gear changes. Again, they wouldn't fail if these eco-driving habits were not used, but the young drivers would be more aware of their actions.
