Democratic presidential candidate favors tougher CAFE standards
Tom Vilsack, the two-term Iowa governor and first Democrat to file as a presidential candidate for the 2008 election, says doubling the CAFE standards over the next 10 years would help the country get serious about hybrid vehicles and fuel-cell cars. Speaking at the University of Colorado, Visack promised that renewable energy will be a "pillar" of his campaign platform. He said renewable energy can unite the country as well as make it more secure. Vilsack, already with MySpace, Facebook and YouTube presences, says the country has moral and economic reasons for committing to renewable sources. A staunch proponent of ethanol, Vilsack says any federal subsidies for renewable energy should go to the consumers, not oil industry. Let the race begin!

How come the cheapest car with a 6 speed automatic (the golf) ends up being $20,000-it starts at 15 for a stripper 2 door, then add 4 door (more practical), 6 speed auto (over $1000), then destination & taxes. Your at 20K

Toyota should offer the cheapest scion for $12, then an extra grand for 6 speed auto, then destination & taxes bring it to $15K out the door.
