"Out of Balance" film that attacks ExxonMobil now for sale

"Out of Balance" is a short film that addresses ExxonMobil's impact on the climate and how the company influences governments and media. The filmmakers have recently posted a two-and-one-half minute trailer on their website and have announced that the movie has been accepted by the Sierra Club Energy Film Festival. As each festival hits a city, expert panelists will also be available for comments. The movie interviews numerous scientists and draws footage from Greenpeace and Union of Concerned Scientists. In addition to offering evidence that ExxonMobil ignores climate science, the film offers ideas for the social changes necessary to help turn around the situation. The film is for sale through Joe Public Films.

I proudly display my ExxposeExxon bumper sticker on my car. I am located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where Exxon has one of the largest refineries. They contribute to our Cancer Alley label despite their attempts at green washing.

The tobacco industry contributes lots of good causes. It's all part of thier PR machine to make their company appear better to the public. The oil companies are no different. In this case they are killing the planet. Whats the point in donating money to good causes if on the other hand they are ensuring we don't have a future on this planet?

To win against the petroleum monopolies we must use their own weapons against them... economics, FEAR. We need to continually show people exactly how bio-fuels and PHEVs can help them (1) Save MONEY and (2) stop financing those who are rewarded in “heaven” for dying while kill us. The 70s oil crisis can happen again in a “flash.” Iran is the pivot and a nuclear Iran is deadly. Selling the general public on “Global Warming” is a difficult uphill fight against big petroleum’s multi $Billion spin machine. Keep the message constant, center and sane. Hype causes doubt, doubt causes fear, fear causes hesitation, hesitation causes stagnation, stagnation halts change.

Does the irony of an anti-oil company bumper sticker, on your car (that requires that fuel) not register? That's like complaining about the cattle industry while having a backyard BBQ.
This is a load of crap. We can't blame Exxon for what we have done. Exxon doesn't make us buy 8mpg SUV's, or build 3000sqft homes, or freak out everytime gas prices go up. That's like a rapist claiming it wasn't his fault because the girl wore makeup and made herself attractive.
Everyone wants to point the finger at an easy target. How about we point the finger back at ourselves where it belongs. Of course Exxon is going to protect their interests. If they don't their employees will loose their jobs. We are the ones who make the choices and we are the ones who can fix things, by changing ourselves, not by blaming someone else.

lose:
–verb (used with object)
1. to come to be without (something in one's possession or care), through accident, theft, etc., so that there is little or no prospect of recovery: I'm sure I've merely misplaced my hat, not lost it.
loose:
–adjective
1. free or released from fastening or attachment: a loose end.
2. free from anything that binds or restrains; unfettered: loose cats prowling around in alleyways at night.
You are all relatively intelligent people, so quit pretending you don't know the difference between lose and loose!

There is no irony here. Why not visit ExxposeExxon.com and see why I am boycotting them. There are other oil companies out there to power my ironic vehicle that at least admit to global warming and aren't funding phony science on global warming.
P.S. I don't eat cows.

Actually you aren't boycotting Exxon. If you drive, you're using Exxon gas (gas stations share fuel, Exxon sells gas to Texaco, Texaco sells gas to Valero, etc...). If you shop at a supermarket you're buying products that arrived on trucks fueled by Exxon. You benefit from the highest standard of living the the world, which is largely the result of efforts of the men you decry. That's the irony.
Things aren't black and white. If you only look at the superficial, and don't try to put yourself in Exxon's shoes, then you will never understand the larger issues. Does Exxon have flaws, of course. But ExxposeExxon is, while well intentioned, even more misleading that Exxon has ever been. ExxposeExxon takes any spurious rationale and blows it out of proportion. Just because they are on the other side of the argument, the one you like, doesn't mean that they have all the correct information.
In the words of Winston Churchill: (my quote is probably not exact) "No folly is more costly that the folly of intollerant idealism."
There is some truth there, and there is some truth to the evidence Exxon supports. As long as we blindly follow one side without listening to the other, we are the biggest fools in the room.
We aren't open minded just because we think we are, we have to be open minded in action and thought, not just in theory. I'm open to what ExxposeExxon has to say, and I'm open to what Exxon has to say. But I'm equally willing to point out BS and solid points on either side.
I've met Lee Raymond, his just about one of the smartest men you'll ever meet, do not underestimate the man. While I may not agree with what he did all the time, he's a lot smarter than 99% of the people out there. And I can guarantee he's smarter than you or I.
Am I biased? I'd have to say yes. I value the opinions of those who create things more than those who try to tear them down. Attacking something is easy, making something is hard. To fully understand the implications of what Exxon does, we have to try to understand what they are doing without bias, then we can begin to understand the larger issues.
On beef: arguing the syntax of an anology misses the point...it's an analogy.
PS: Teacher: it's a typo, geeze get a life.

Too bad the Sierra Club sucks and the environmentalists attract me about as much as an anorexic runway model vomiting in a toilet.
