Greenhouse gas info will soon be featured on new cars
Hoping consumers will make greener choices while shopping for new cars, two states require disclosure of how much global-warming gas the vehicles emit. Connecticut just joined California in insisting that window stickers display the numbers. Jim Motavalli of E-The Environmental Magazine says most Americans have a difficult time connecting auto exhaust and climate change. He's hoping that fuel economy concerns will spur consumers to greener choices. California has laws that will result in a 22 percent reduction in global warming vehicle emissions by 2012. Environmentalists expect more states will follow suit and force automakers to improve fuel economy and lower greenhouse gas emissions, although there are legal challenges to the effort. The window stickers won't appear until 2009.

That headline took me by surprise. For a moment I thought the EPA did something positive. Thank goodness (in some cases) for State's rights.
