Ouch! R/C fuel cell will cost $1,500
A few days ago I had a post about a fuel-cell kit for R/C racers from Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies. The fuel cell replaces the standard battery pack in 1/10th scale cars. Now comes an update that the 30-watt fuel-cell option will cost around $1,500, and there's already a waiting list. Horizon says cars can go over 20 mph and will run up to 45 minutes on a single tank of fuel. Too bad they won't be ready in time for Christmas. The units aren't expected to ship until early next year.[Source: ExtremeTech]

A waiting list? There is a sucker born every minute!

I put my name on the waiting list. Of course there was no mention of price at that point. With the price as it is now, I'll ignore my line in the list.

For $1500 you could get a used Honda Civic and have efficient transportation in the real world.

Vivid example of how expensive and impractical automotive fuel cells are. I'm betting that when those in the "waiting list" get the sticker shock, sales will be pathetic. For that price, one could get a PS3, Xbox 360, and a Wii, and still have money for a lot of games and accessories.
Like the Segway, it's a toy for the ultra-rich.
