Used Chrysler 300 diesel sells for more than new in UK
Chrysler sells a version of the 300 in Europe equipped with a Mercedes 3.0L V-6 diesel. So far the 300 CRD has proved remarkably popular, particularly in Britain where gas prices currently hover around $6.50 per US gallon. Unlike almost any American car over here, used diesel 300s are going for prices above the list for a new model. Glass's Guide which is a guide to resale prices in Britain lists the suggested price for a 2006 300 diesel with 9,000 miles £27,500 ($54,130) compared to an MSRP of £26,250 ($51,700). If Chrysler could get these kinds of prices in this country, there would certainly be no suggestion from DCX shareholders about dumping the group. Chrysler really needs to offer diesel V-6 here in the Dodge Magnum which recently has seen it's sales go through the floor.

Here in Germany the Austrian made Chrysler 300 Station Wagon is quite popular. Yes, Station Wagon! It is basically a Dodge Magnum with a nose job.
But is seems DCX needs most of the capacities of their engine building facilities for the Daimlers with their higher profit margin. Maybe one day they'll either drop in the new VM V6 or start building the Daimler V6 at VM or Detroit Diesel to satisfy the growing demand. Until than the low Dollar is not a good motivation to bring engines to the US that sell for higher prices here in Europe.

Now that we've got ULSD, where are all the diesel cars?
I'd buy a diesel 300 in a heartbeat. What kind of MPG does it get?
Hell, I'd buy a diesel Civic even faster.
All the folks with the old diesel Merc's aren't selling em.

The 300C diesel V6 sells for exactly the same price as the 3.5 gasser V6.
Fuel consumption in US gallons would be 36 mpg extra-urban and 22 mpg urban.
The slower 3.5 gasser gets 28/15, the Hemi gets 27/12.

ULSD is already standard across the US? If this is so, then I also wonder where the diesels are. I'm waiting for a diesel Prius to replace my current one.

For the love of ###. Chrysler has what sounds like a great product available in europe for years. The US market is begging for fuel efficiency and Chrysler stands around with their fingers up there nose. I am holding off on new car purchases until someone gets it right.
