UC Davis previews Gov. Schwarzenegger's budget speach, green theme for Energy and Transportation
University of California, Davis, has posted information on Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposed 2007 budget priorities to be released on the 10th. Included in the budget is a focus on green technology under the heading "Energy and Transportation". The list is as follows:
- Biomass in California's energy future
- Clean auto fuels and technologies
- Using existing energy supplies better
- Transportation infrastructure and air quality
Regarding biomass, such as forest trimmings, rice straw, tree prunings, animal manures and urban waste, California will focus on how to use these to create renewable fuels.
Clean auto fuels and technologies appears to focus on hydrogen, which is also the focus of the Hydrogen Highways program at UC Davis.
Using existing energy supplies better goes along with the UC Davis Energy Efficiency Center, "dedicated to speeding the transfer of new energy-saving products and services into the homes and lives of Californians." How does using existing energy supplies go hand in hand with speeding the transfer of new energy-saving products? I don't know. I always thought new and existing were different, but what do I know?
Transportation infrastructure and air quality speaks of transportation project priorities and transportation air-quality issues.
There are professors and experts and UC Davis to assist in the understanding of each of these, as can be seen in the link. California always seems to be at the forefront of automotive green technology, for better or for worse. We all agree we need to be greener, how to get there is another story entirely.
