John Deere, "Biofuels, it's the right thing to do"

Agricultural equipment manufacturer John Deere has expanded the biofuels content on its website to provide detailed information to its customers, including a ten page white paper. Designed the clarify John Deere's position on the matter, the white paper has the following to say about biofuels:
- It's the right thing to do from a long-term economic standpoint
- It's the right thing to do from an environmental standpoint
- It's the right thing to do from an energy security standpoint
- It's the right thing to do from a rural development standpoint: Customers of John Deere around the globe produce the building blocks for renewable fuels
"John Deere has been an early advocate for biodiesel and continues to actively support its use," says Don Borgman, director of agricultural industry relations for John Deere. "We believe that supporting the use of 2 percent biodiesel (B2) is a logical first step for the industry until challenges with production, quality and distribution are addressed."
John Deere was the first to approve B5 blends for general use in 2001 and initiated its factory fill program for self-propelled equipment in 2005.

JD is behind in the game. B2? Really? B20 is not even serious if you are looking to "go green". I asked all the big boys (including JD) to beta test a machine on B100. No one would except the one company that's been doing it for several years now, and that's New Holland. Great machine, but definitely ag size and not overall consumer size. Clean burning, keeps the engine clean and one of the greatest machines I ever used.

JD, B2 is nothing -- please show some courage and go with B20 so that it can become a wider standard. Here in Seattle we use B99 except when it gets too cold.

Take a look out this On Demand Hydrogen Fuel System designed by HyTek Fuels. This John Deere 9520 decreased it's fuel consumption 25% while increasing horse power and decreased emissions.
