Toyota looks to students for 2012 concepts
Toyota Motor Sales, USA and Calty Design Research, a Toyota design studio, have unveiled student-designed vehicle concepts as part of the Bridge Project, a Toyota-sponsored program for the College for Creative Studies. Calty designs vehicle concepts for Toyota, Lexus and Scion aimed at the North American market and is credited with Toyota F3R, Scion FUSE, and t2B, Toyota FT-SX, and the Lexus LF-C sports coupe.
Toyota has run the Bridge Project, which is aimed at designing a vehicle for the 2012 market to tempt maturing Scion customers across to Toyota, since 2005. Designs have to incorporate Toyota's styling principles of Vibrant Clarity and J-Factor. Perhaps it's all the cool looking designs coming out of schools around the world that's keeping Toyota on top. But who is dreaming up the next release of the Hybrid Synergy drive? Let's hope there's more to these designs than just a sales pitch.
