Dodge Ram first to meet strict 2010 diesel emissions standards

As the heavy-duty consumer truck race heats up, Dodge will show off a 6.7-liter turbodiesel in the 2007 Ram 2500/3500 pickup at the Washington Auto Show. Dodge revealed the engine at the Texas State Fair last year, but now we see it in the truck. Officials claim it will emit fewer harmful emissions than the competition while putting out 350 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. With DaimlerChrysler set to introduce more clean-burning Bluetec vehicles in the next few years, diesel emissions are quite the hot topic. In fact, the Ram will be getting some of the Bluetec technology. Dodge is also expected to announce that a new clean diesel engine will be developed for the Dodge 1/2-ton Ram after 2009, and that diesel will offer a 30 percent improvement in fuel economy. With the better gas mileage, CO2 emissions will drop, as well. Diesel engines will be required to meet strict emissions standards in 2010.

Too bad the tree huggers are making the rest of us pay for all this 2010 emission junk. So far the big three are reeling at all the problems that are being caused by the new emission requirements. Dodge for one cannot keep the 6.7 running for extended periods of time. Mine has been in the shop twice in 2500 miles for emission problems. And I am a lucky one! On top of all the problems, fuel economy wa way down. How can burning more fuel per mile reduce emissions? No one can explain that one!

Amen brother!! Mine's even worse, and currently doing a Lemon Law Lawsuit... ANYBODY THAT HAS THIS TRUCK WILL HAVE A PROBLEM.... Get a lawyer!!... I could personally say that Krohn and Moss have been great and are a really good firm to work with.
Mine has had a new turbo, multiple emmissions cleanings, and just got it back from having to get a new NOS converter!! A part that costs almost $4000.... Hope you don't ever have to replace that sob out of warrranty.... Good luck to all fellow Dodge / Cummins 6.7 owners!!

I traded an 05' 5.9 Dodge which was in perfect condition for the 08' 6.7 and it has been in the shop 5 times for emission issues. Dodge refuses to take the truck back, and they refuse to put any of this in writing. I felt the consumers have the right to know, so I put it in writing myself - on my truck for the world to see. I posted it on Ebay and have been getting a lot of feedback from other 6.7 owners with the same problems. Good Luck

I have a '07 Dodge 6.7 and have been in the shop too many times to count for engine light/emission problems. The closest dealer is in another county..they are very courteous, but I'm wondering what can be done to remove the problem after the warranty runs out. I won't be able to afford to own this beautiful truck...I splurged because I thought I would keep it for at least the next 10 years. Any advice out there?

Nice post. Dodge get lot of success from ram. Dodge Ram have 6 speed automatic transmission. The Drive layout is a typical RWD or a 4WD. Ram HD is available in three cab i.e regular cab; crew cab and mega cab. Interiors are same as the features of the 2009 model. Controller can communicate all information to the driver through the gauge cluster information center right between the speedometer and tachometer. It's good that big companies such like Dodge have already thought about environment. I hope they will think progressively further

I see that the Dr.Z comments says that the 6.7 will take b20 biodeisel but when I called 1800-4dodge the tech said ONLY B5 rated so which is it and will daimler chrysler back it up if problems occur?

Nobody ever talks about how meeting these emissions adds thousands to the cost of the truck. Nor do they mention how all the complicated emissions equipment nullifies the reliability advantage diesel engines used to have. For those reasons I'm buying an early nineties diesel ram - no emissions equipment at all. It's the only way to go. When the government or the treehuggers subsidize the cost of add-on emissions equipment then I'll buy a "clean" diesel.

If they keep it up with this emissions requirements we won't have the freedom to make more horsepower which sucks!!

Why would a person need to add more horsepower to a "clean diesel" that has 350 horse and 650 pound feet of torque? Seriously, if you need more power than that and being clean at the same time, its pretty stupid. Rams are meant for work and they have plenty of power as is, they aren't sports cars. Having more power stalk and being clean is the best way to go. I ain't a tree hugger but this world is starting to get pretty polluted, why make it worse, when you can make it better, right?
