Bank of America gives hybrid-buying employees $3,000 each

With the federal tax credit dropping for Toyota hybrid models, the Bank of America program we've told you about in the past is offering $3,000 to any of its 185,000 employees nationwide who buy a hybrid car. Previously, only employees Boston, Charlotte or L.A. could get the credit.

Anne Finucane, Bank of America's chief marketing officer and head of the company's environmental council, said in a press release that in the three pilot cities hybrid purchases by employees "more than quadrupled." Only the 44 hybrid models that qualify for the federal Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit from the IRS qualify for the Bank of America program. Also, the car has to be new (not used or leased) and each employee can only get the $3,000 once.
