You thought you saw green at NAIAS? Wait for Geneva.

Automotive News (subs req'd) has tried to round up the green-friendly cars and concepts that are coming our way from Geneva in a few weeks. Their list is as follows. The few others we know about are below that.
From Autonews:
- "BMW debuts a 1-series three-door variant with a stop-start system and brake energy regeneration that will reduce fuel consumption as well as CO2 emissions.
- Daihatsu will show an Eco version of its Cuore minicar. It will also have a stop-start system that cuts CO2 emissions to 99g/km.
- Toyota and Honda show concepts for potential future hybrid cars. Toyota's Hybrid X study previews a possible new design language for its hybrid cars. Honda's concept is for a small sports car powered by a hybrid powertrain, Honda aims to show that sports cars don't have to be gas guzzlers."

That's a pretty green vehicle, especially if you replace an SUV with it! The car would have ZERO net CO2 emissions when running on E100!
It offers 73 cubic feet of cargo space. Compare that to 66 cubic feet in the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid. Both have the same size internal combustion engines (2.3 liter 4-cylinder), and the SAAB puts out 300 hp/295 ft-lb torque, which bests the Escape Hybrid's 155 hp/152 ft-lb torque.
I know hybrids are "sexy", but the BioPower SAAB seems to blow the Ford Escape Hybrid away in both power and "green" factor.

The escape hybrid is only 133hp. But it is atkinson cycle for greater efficiency, and works well with the IVT.
It is funny that a swedish company would push 100% ethanol, doesn't it ever drop below 32F or 0C there? Honda has to do the small gasoline starting tank-in Brazil, and the equator runs through that country not the arctic circle.
The E85 MAGICALLY becomes E70 in the US for winter use, yet it is not reflected in advertising.
