Desperate Michigan congressman attacks Schwarzenegger with billboard, website over fuel-economy standards

Republican Rep. Joe Knollenberg of Michigan is already running for re-election, and part of his campaign is to attack California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger with a billboard that reads, "Arnold to Michigan: Drop Dead." Somehow, this stupid idea is meant to call attention to federal efforts to increase CAFE standards and the impact such a move could have on his district. Knollenberg says politicians have "no understanding of auto manufacturing" and believes he is fighting for the survival of domestic automakers. He has already stated that fuel economy increases would cost Detroit automakers $85 billion and cost thousands of jobs.
He chose to blast Schwarzenegger because he's a "symbol" of the green movement. A spokesman for the governor says Schwarzenegger wants the auto industry "to move into the future."
Knollenberg's re-election staff paid $10,000 for the billboard and another $1,500 to set up to set up a website that promotes his views. He's asking viewers to contribute $3 to keep the billboard going. Knollenberg is likely to face stiff competition in the next election, apparently with good reason.
Maybe someone out here in California should put up a billboard with a corny looking mug shot of Knollenberg and write, "Knollenberg to California: Suck my fumes!" We could also set up a website with the URL: godsaveusfromidiots.com.

I'm all for the California billboard, but can we get a lack of religion based damn name for the website? Or multiple versions for multiple religions and us Atheists to be fair? I can't believe this governor, I would hope that he ends up sending a more negative message with his slander and crackpot views.

I live in California and I am LIVID at this news! You can't imagine how excited and proud many of us are to be leading the nation in legislation (and, recently, grants from the Department of Energy) oriented toward conservation. To his credit, Schwarzenegger has transformed himself into the country's greenest governor.

If it takes the destruction of the "big 3" automakers to save the U.S. from bondage to imported oil and choking on pollution, so be it.
But I sincerely doubt such destruction is necessary. The big 3 just need to get knocked out of their gas guzzling rut, then they can finally do the right thing.

ah ha, finally its confirmed ans what I've been suspecting...that this sites author is from California. (what tree-hugging save the planet site isn't?)
California needs to to stop kissing the hypocrits (Al Gore's) ass so much, and relize that the earth isn't "warming" it's temp changes all the time, some years hotter, some years colder...it has nothing to do with humans.

If the big 3 don't wake up and raise fuel economy they won't be competitive, it's that simple.

I'm having a very hard time understanding the circumstances or context in which the big three who have ruthlessly laid off thousands of workers while maintaining comfy job security for their millionaire CEOs are the victims because the bad man from california wants them to catch up with the rest of the worlds' auto makers in terms of environmental effeciency.
