Like the Groove, the Blaze Orange Chevy Trax concept that GM revealed at the Javits Center in New York was devoid of an interior, but the exterior was very well finished. Details like the hood clamps at the back edge of the hood and yellow brake calipers showing through the 17-inch wheels add to the look. The drive-train is supposed to include a 1.0L gas engine to drive the front wheels and an electric motor for the rears.

Please read this article in the Detroit news. We need these cars here in the U.S. It does not look like G.M will sell them here.

From article "In an interview with reporters after revealing the three concept cars, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said it currently was unlikely that GM will build any of the triplet concepts for sale in the United States, unless there was a dramatic prolonged increase in fuel prices or an "unforeseen" change in fashion for small cars here. He also said the vehicles could be priced starting at $10,000 and could be built in either China or India. All of the triplets would get in the high 40 or 50 mile per gallon fuel economy range.
Lutz noted that the vehicles aren't currently being designed to meet rigorous U.S. safety requirements, another sign the company isn't likely to bring any of the three vehicles designed at GM's South Korean design studio to the U.S. market."
For G.M. to change its image these are exactly the cars they need to sell in the U.S. Please help publicize this.

bob, it's a two way street. to get these on the roads here GM has to sell them AND people have to buy them. If GM builds these cars and chooses not to sell them here, it's clearly because there isn't a market for them here.

Alex, you are certainly right. I wonder if enough people went into Chevy dealers and offered to put money down on the first Trax/Beat/Groove that they get in if the public could get the dealers to put a bit of pressure on the right people 'higher up' to bring these cars here. This IS America after all and money talks.
Or, can we hope that GM is planning to release the cars first overseas and perfect the design a bit before bringing it stateside?

I need this vehicle! I'm a young 54, living in a rural area, not the typical urban buyer, but there are many of us that this would suite quite well. It's sporty and economical, roomy, but not a huge gas guzzler. I like the design, color and especially the price and crossover aspects. I really hope Chevy offers these here! We need to keep our environment in mind.
