Death Car: Ford HySeries Edge almost kills the president
Perhaps Ford CEO Alan Mulally's retelling of President Bush's encounter with the Ford HySeries Edge the other day is slightly exaggerated, but it sounds like the president had a close call with the dangers of new and dangerous hydrogen technology.
According to the Detroit News, Mulally said at the New York Auto Show that "he intervened to prevent President Bush from plugging an electrical cord into the hydrogen tank of Ford's hydrogen-electric plug-in hybrid at the White House."
Because Ford arranged to have an actual electrical outlet installed on the South Lawn (Ford can do that?), the live extension cord was left on the ground, close to the rear fuel tank. Apparently, this is dangerous. As Mulally explained:
"I just thought, 'Oh my goodness!' So, I started walking faster, and the President walked faster and he got to the cord before I did. I violated all the protocols. I touched the President. I grabbed his arm and I moved him up to the front. I wanted the president to make sure he plugged into the electricity, not into the hydrogen. This is all off the record, right?"
This brings up the obvious questions of what, exactly, was the danger, and how will this be fixed before these cars make it into production.

How particularly interesting. Does the cruise control device catch on fire too? Maybe Mulally should travel the US and rescue owners from burning down the house by asking them to park their Ford SUVs outside (there's only some 16M of them with this fatal defect).

Absolutely NOTHING would have happened. An engineer would have known that. Mulally is evidently not an engineer. Besides, at the latest GW would have figured out it was the wrong spot when a fancy check valve was looking him in the face instead of the = he was |o| he was looking for.

Well President Bush has trouble with certain challenges such as the block matching set. He always messes up and tries to put the square block in the circle hole and vice versa. Plus Cheney was likely antagonizing him - mwaaaaw. I think that is why we also invaded Iraq b/c Cheney was standing behind The President making him uncomfortable.

Maybe we should use biodiesel and electricity in a PHEV instead of spending $ Billions and waiting 20 or more years for a brand new infrastructure so we can produce even MORE CO2 by reforming Natural Gas? I know big oil would prefer the latter. Some morons (GW) are even biting on Big Oil’s marketing campaign and championing Hydrogen themselves. There is more than one fool born every minute and they LOVE hydrogen. Then again, remember to always follow the money!!

Did You Know... that there was an Electric Car made back in 1914 called the (Brougham Cinderella Coach) that would get 211 miles per charge and go over 65 MPH. It's power came from only 14 six volt Edison batteries.
At one point there was more Electric cars on the roads then Gas cars. So what happened you ask?...You only need to ask yourself, If they could do that back then. Why can't they do that now...But only better!?
