"E85 Everywhere" rally in Minnesota today

"Give me an 'E', give me an '85', give it to me everywhere!"
That's the message the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest and the E85 Everywhere partnership will be bringing to the Minnesota Sate Capital this morning at part of an E85 Everywhere rally and flexible-fuel vehicle display. The event will feature Gov. Tim Pawlenty at 11 a.m. and various state legislators' speeches starting at 11:20. The goal: to make E85 ethanol blends and flexible-fuel vehicles mainstream in Minnesota.
E85 Everywhere is supported by the National Ethanol Vehicle Coalition and hopes to encourage 1,800 E85 fueling outlets in Minnesota over the next few years. There are already over 300 such stations in the state according to NEVC.

Once again Minnesota leads the way forward!
While we do need more fueling outlets we also need better flex fuel vehicle choices. Ford sells a Flex Fuel Focus in other markets, bring it to North America!!

Not everyone agrees that ethanol exhaust is so clean.

Even the detractors of the study claim that "an accurate summary would be that this study shows that use of high blend ethanol is unlikely to significantly improve air quality compared to use of gasoline."

How are those corn farmers going to feel when ADM decides that they don't need them anymore?
Ethanol is at best a mediocre fuel which does very little towards energy independence, and corn is a lousy feedstock.
Political Correctness makes lousy science, bad economics, and even worse public policy.

The University of Minnesota calls ethanol a bad idea. You can read about it on their website.

This and hydrogen fuel cells need to stop. We need an Apollo program for chemical battiers and/or ultracapacitors so we can go forward with electric cars.
