Remember the X-BOW, the lightweight roadster made using carbon fiber and looks like it belongs in the new Transformers movie? If not, you can refresh your memory. If you do remember it, and have been hoping for news of how to have one of these sitting in the garage (garage? Nah, keep it parked in the street to slow down rubberneckers and keep neighborhood kids safe), there's good news.

When Dane wrote about the X-BOW back in February, he noted that if KTM can achieve their goal of making 500 units per year mass produced carbon fibre automotive construction will be one step closer. We're about to take two of those steps, since Business Week is reporting that KTM has announced that due to positive response from the public (and 600 X-BOW orders in the last two months) means that series production has been given the green light. Magna Steyr Fahrzeugtechnik will start production in early 2008, and the first customer deliveries will be next February. 1000 X-BOWs a year is the goal after that at an expected price of about EUR 40,000 (US$55,000). Maybe locked up in the garage is the best place to park it.
