National Biodiesel Board looking for help in new farm bill

Every five years, a Farm Bill makes it way through the U.S. Congress, and it attracts a host of interests, like fruit and vegetable growers this year, who try to make the Farm Bill work for them. This year, the National Biodiesel Board (NBB) is joining the ranks clamoring for special attention.

The NBB issued a statement yesterday calling for all sorts of pro-biodiesel provisions in the new bill. Specifically, a Biodiesel Incentive Program and a Biodiesel Fuel Education Program. The NBB's incentive plan "would operate similarly to the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) Bioenergy Program, which worked well in encouraging expanded biodiesel production in recent years," the organization's statement says. "The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) would use CCC commodities to reimburse U.S. biodiesel producers on all biodiesel production."

The rate of reimbursement and just how universal that "all biodiesel production" really is was not clarified. You can check out the NBB's official statement at the Read link.
