Is the Ford Fusion hybrid going to debut in LA?

Back in December of last year we saw photos of the underhood area of a Ford Fusion with what appeared to be a hybrid powertrain. Now our friend Ray is reporting that the Fusion Hybrid will have its coming out party later this year either at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November or at the Detroit Show next year in January. Most likely the drivetrain will be much same as the Escape Hybrid including the 2.3L four cylinder. Ford's second hybrid is expected as a 2009 model.
Update: A Ford spokesman confirmed that the Fusion and Milan hybrids are definitely on track for production in 2008 as 2009 model year vehicles. As expected he would not confirm when they will actually make their first public appearance, and said that the hunt is on for "Electric Throat."

Hybrid or not, that ugly thing has 1992 Honda Prelude tail lights, and they really look out of place on that car.

I hear a redesign/refresh of the exterior is also in order for '08/'09 so we'll see on that. Looks better than the current Camary, I think my '04 Accord has them both beat in the style dept. even though it is as bit bland. Only so much you can do in this segment of the industry.

Unfortunately, Ford is going to be about 2 years late in competing with the likes of the Camry Hybrid... but here's to Ford actually getting something out there.
It's in everyone's interest to see Ford come back and revisit their hybrid portfolio.
