Investor Ideas thoughts on our vehicles efficiency and consumer choices
Update: AutoblogGreen is not endorsing any of the companies in the article linked to below. The point of this post is to point out that there are many companies who are hoping to get a piece of the green automotive pie.Update - Editor's Note: We should make clear from the top of the post that Investor Ideas is paid by Zap! to promote Zap! products and so they are not an independent third party. AutoblogGreen does not take money for posts, and we never have and never will, and we should have pointed out that Investor Ideas does in the original text of this post. Investor Ideas does disclose the financial relationship with Zap! in tiny print at the bottom of their page, but we want to state it clearly up front. Thanks to Darryl and Rick for their comments pointing this out.
If you frequent our site, nothing in this article will come as groundbreaking to you. If not, you really should read our content! Then, if you want, check out the article. What you will find is that there are currently some pretty good choices for you next vehicle if you'd like to go green. You will also find that there are many more choices poised to grab some market share. Competing technologies such as plug-in electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles and even hydrogen vehicles will be attempting to make inroads on American roads soon enough. What that means is that this is an exciting time to be involved, as we are kinda at a "Genesis" in the technology. Where will things go from here? Time will tell, and consumers will vote with their pocketbooks.
If ZAP! can actually bring their exciting products to market, I'd expect them to become a major player. As it stands now, though, their three-wheeled electric vehicles are not going to be replacing too many internal combustion powered cars anytime soon. If their electric Lotus APX or their Obvio vehicles actually show up, watch out!
GM intends to produce the Volt, read about that here. If you don't need a new car before, say, 2010... you may be in luck. We here at AutoblogGreen soundly believe that the Volt could be a market-changing vehicle for GM in the same way that the Prius was for Toyota. Don't forget Honda, the most fuel efficient brand in America, either. Like I said, exciting times indeed!

More people should learn about electric vehicles as a solution. "Zero emissions" is something that's going to be required by law one day (you know it will). Making the decision to go electric is far cheaper anyway, like 10 cents on the dollar vs. gas. (source: zapworld.com)

Jeremy,
"Investor Ideas" is a shill to pump penny stocks for companies that pay them. It says so right in the article you link to:
"ZAP is a featured Company on RenewableEnergyStocks.com, TechSectorStocks.com and EnvironmentStocks.com and compensates the portals as disclosed in disclaimer below."
On their "about us" page, they lay out their terms:
"Become a Featured Company in your sector on one of our leading portals. Choose from one of our two programs: 1) Have your company profile, news, logo, regulatory links, management profile in our featured company showcase for $2000 per month. 2) Have your company’s profile, news, logo, regulatory links, management profile in our featured company showcase, as well as participate in our interactive program of industry articles, Podcasts, and online conferences with other industry leaders for $5000 month."
Does AutoBlogGreen wants to establish itself as a credible resource for readers who are on the cutting edge of alternative fuel transport? If so, the reporting has to scratch at least one layer down and not be taken in by penny stock portals that get paid to promote stocks.

Agreed with the Tesla guy. I'm a trader and you guys are stepping outside your field of expertise into a bucket of ####.
You should tread lightly with regard to "investments" because i can count dozens of high profile law firms who specialize in class action "investor" lawsuits. And there are hundreds of pump & dump, paid-to-promote hustlers out there and you guys aren't equipped to know the difference.

Sorry guys, I was not trying to suggest that anybody invest in any of the companies listed in the article. I just wanted to point out that there are many competing technologies and companies that could possibly come out with new vehicles. Also, I am fully aware that ZAP! loves their press releases and press...

Zap will not last if they do not meet crash expectations. Sure a few may buy them, but most people want a flexible vehicle (a vehicle that is certified to go over 25mph safely). Sure some states may allow them to go 35mph. But untill they meet the same safety rules as any vehicle that can go 6o mph. They will not be big sellers.
May GM volt technology be also used in all their small vehicles. Hydrogen motor maybe prefered, but a small gas motor or diesel motor as a APU to power the electric wheels may be preferred to be affordable. But what is better, a chevy volt style vehicle that is like a locomotive (APU powers electric motors at each wheel) or the GM, DCX, BMW, hybrid transmission that will take 2 electric motors (high rpm & low rpm) and pass them through a transmission and drive train.
