Alcohol: Fill your tank of fill your tummy?

We know all about ethanol 'round these parts. We write about it all the time (721 posts as of this morning), sometimes good and sometimes bad. Shall we run down the list here? Okay... In the U.S. we use corn to make it, which is not even remotely the best crop choice. Ethanol has less energy density than gasoline. Subsidies artificaly reduce its price. Ethanol can be diluted in water. Okay, that's enough! We get the point. But, the good news is that ethanol is made from renewable crops, and probably has less of an impact on the environment that using petroleum (test results vary, of course). Butanol might be a better choice in the long run. Are there any other alcohol choices that are better? How about Sake? Well, maybe not, but perhaps alcohol made from rice will work out in Japan. Shouldn't this be "Fill your tank OR fill your tummy"?
At least they're not using rice that could be used for good sake. Mostly husks and waste particulate.

My 1996 Dodge 3500 Diesel, dual wheels is my pride and joy...when I was widowed in Feb. 2004, my daughters wanted me to get rid of it. They said it was too big, and I was too old to be driving a rig that size...It is like new, gorgeous, with only 53,000 miles on the guage.
Now, I am pushing 80 yrs., and will drive "May West" (my trucks name because it is so wide at the rear) until they take my keys away.
It isn't one of your little eco/green cars, but I am driving GREEN, and get terrific mileage. My Dodge Caravan and "May West" are trying to out-best each other for the mileage crown. Both are GREEN & Great!
http://www.efill.mybpi.com I guess alcohol is good, but I don't indulge....Thanks, Joyce Have a better than wonderful day!
