Video of a test ride on an electric motorcycle

The team at Hybrid Technologies has struck again this time with a motorcycle converted to run on lithium ion batteries. The Stealth, as they call it, is a cruiser style and has a top speed of 50 mph. Performance is apparently comparable to a 500cc bike but with no noise. The bike isn't specifically on Hybrid Technologies' site although it looks similar to their Jin so it probably has a range of 40 miles. Popular Mechanics has a video with HT founder Richard Griffiths showing off and demonstrating the bike.

The old LE Velocette (twin cylinder water cooled) bike was known as the "whispering death" because it was so quite and pedestrians never heard it coming. This bike is totally quiet and has the same disadvantage. Technology is great though.

say what? my 450 will easily top 100. most 250s can do 80. When you try to strech the truth like that you lose all credability, especially amoung the people who are into this sort of thing and could potentially buy on of these.

Contrary to popular belief, loud pipes do not save lives. If you are relying on other people to get out of your way when they hear you coming, your not driving defensively enough. As a operator of a motorcycle I believe it is my responsibility to keep myself safe, I don't rely on others to clear a path for me.
My 500 would easily do 100 also, I'm hoping what they mean is that it has the acceleration and handling of a 500 but just not the top speed.
