Nissan says the Cube will not be targeting the xB
The Nissan Cube and Scion xB may both look like the boxes they came in, but Nissan doesn't expect their car to compete directly with the larger Scion when it arrives in the United States in early 2009. Nissan vice president of product planning Larry Dominique expects the market for the Cube to be more balanced between male and female buyers than the xB, a vehicle that has grown significantly larger in it's second generation. More than likely the Cube will be competing more directly with the new xD which is closer in size to the Nissan. Regardless of which vehicles it competes with, seeing more small cars like this coming the US market is a good thing.

This just proves that Nissan along with their lack of imagination believes that there is room in this world for more than one butt ugly car.

I'm glad they're bring this car here. It was a golden opportunity for Nissan since they wrong sized the new xB.
I don't think it's as cool as the old xB.
I'm glad I got mine when I did.
Nissan is bringing in a car that wasn't designed for this country.
I hope this sets an example for Ford and GM who make wonderful cars abroad.

Now Tim, I know you had all your toy boxes taken away from you when you were little, and it turned you against them, but some of us are not scarred by box envy and can live with them in peace.

Yes, Thank you Nissan! I was afraid I would not have a chose but to keep my xB for like ten years. I love the first gen xB but hate the new one. It's not cool. I hope the Cube has as much rear leg room as the xB did. The new xB has lost that limo rear seating and cool look.

The old xB was no work of art, nor was it a performance masterpiece, but, unlike "crossovers," the xB engineers took building a LIGHT, FUEL EFFICIENT vehicle with a reasonable amount of usable interior room.
The new xB seems to be burdened with the same mistakes that Honda made with the Element--too much styling (which detracts from the simplicity of the thing) and too big. They started out with a Toyota Echo (First gen xB) and ended up with a Ford Edge.
I might add that the Ford Edge should (like any crossover) offer the fuel economy of a sedan, the interior flexibility of a minivan, and the looks of an SUV. The edge has the looks of a minivan, the interior flexibility of a sedan, and the fuel economy of an SUV. Go figure, it still sells well.
