VIDEO: Top Gear takes on British green driving guidelines

Jeremy Clarkson and his team at the BBC car show Top Gear did a green episode. One of the segments had co-host Richard Hammond evaluating a Saab 9-3 while trying to follow the British government's guidelines for greener driving. Of course Jeremy and Richard take on green driving in their usual snarky and sarcastic style. They particularly like to poke fun at the bus lanes that exist on many London roads which seem to mainly sit empty while traffic crawls along in the adjacent lanes. The video is after the jump.

So, it's just government employees fing up London traffic, it's got nothing to do with the increased population. Right.
Video seems to show the Stupiditiy of buying a High Performance Car to just Sit in Traffic?

Nice. I watched this episode last night!
The US needs more smaller cars and less larger ones. This (hopefully) will get people to buy more small cars.

Is this a new episode? That SAAB 9-3 was last year's model. The new (MY2008) 9-3 is much revised and corrects some of Hammond's complaints (such as too many buttons and not being aggressive-looking enough). I'm a SAAB aficionado, but I'd never heard the claim he made that if you drive this car in heavily polluted cities you're actually scrubbing the air!

US needs armored, well-planted small cars that will rollover big SUVs otherwise there will be more SUV buyers to feel safe, more injuries and more new SUV drivers.

Having solid-built small cars will have the same but opposite effect as seeing large SUVs on the road.
It would make them safe if an accident ever occured and it would keep SUV drivers driving more cautiously.
