Goodyear's greener tires pass EPA certification for SmartWay trucking

Every little bit helps, right? Goodyear announced last week that its commercial tires with Fuel Max Technology have gained EPA certification and can now be used on SmartWay-eligible trucks. The tires are said to give improved fuel economy of up to four percent. If they're part of a SmartWay-qualified system, a truck can save up to 4,000 gallons of fuel a year. Not bad for a set of tires (and other components).

If you're a trucker and are looking for specifics, we're here for you. The Goodyear tires that have this Fuel Max Technology are:
  • Unisteel G395 LHS steer tire
  • Unisteel G305 LHD drive tire
  • Unisteel G316 LHT trail tire in standard (11R22.5) and low-profile (295/75R22.5 and 285/75R24.5) sizes
