H.A.L.O.? Waterfall? Forum? Check out these Priuses of the Future

It must be fun to design cars of the future. I mean, a completely orange windshield? That's totally futuristic. Students in the Three Year post-diploma Transportation Design – car design Course at the Istituto Europeo di Design di Torino have completed work on three Prius of the future concepts. From left to right in the montage above we have the Forma, the H.A.L.O. and the Waterfall (you can see each car in full by clicking on the thumbnails below). I see hints of the Trivia Pursuit scoring disc wheels in the Waterfall, but the most unusual design is in the Forma which has a spherical hump on the rear. The powerplants of these fanciful designs are left to the imagination, but as the project was to design "The Prius of 2010-2015," we can guess that they are meant to be green machines. Whaddya think, would you drive one of these?

Do people think the current Prius is some sort of iconic of modern automotive design that its cues should be fleshed out in future concepts, 'cause now. Its one of the most awkward and poorly-styled vehicles on the road today.

If it gets like 100 mpg by then and doesn't cost a fortune more than a non-hybrid, I wouldn't care much about the style. Even still, those are butt ugly.

How come future car designers can never design a good looking car of the future? These are butt. Not only that, but I could never imagine being able to see cars next to or behind me in any of the models... And we wonder why car companies loose so much money... maybe try hiring someone who didn't major in watching star trek with a degree from Lincoln Tech. Idiots.

I don't particularly object to any of these concepts aesthetically, but this whole exercise seems to me to be missing the point.
The exciting thing about the Prius, and indeed the thing that gives any car it's character, is what's happening under the hood. The shape of the body is just window dressing (other than efforts to make it more aerodynamically efficient or provide better passenger/cargo volume). Seriously, is a blue car better than a red one? Who cares, the color is only 0.004" think.
