Help a guy out: Do women change tires in heels?

Look at that! Just look at it! Can you believe the cover of the book Lube Jobs? The book is not even about cars. It's a sex guide. Are we really supposed to believe a situation like that? Does that sticker even come off? AutoblogGreen has posted about woman and cars before. They say electric cars are meant for woman. Who are they?
What's the real history of woman and cars? I am going to look into it. Maybe I will find the Rosalind Franklin of electric cars. I ordered the book Tinkering today. The book summary says 'women drivers represented one group of consumers who used tinkering to advance their claim to social autonomy. ' I will post a review soon. Next, I think I will take a look at woman factory workers in World War II.
Please suggest books or woman I should research in comments. Go below the fold to see the cover of Tinkering, which is a woman by her car and Rosie the Riveter by Norman Rockwell.

Lots of topics to be touched on here, some of which could earn one some extra sensitivity training at work.
I must note that the Amazon summary of Lube Job’s contents coupled with a reviewer’s “Recommended for public libraries” statement leave me scratching my head. Tinkering looks to be an interesting read, though I suspect that only slim portions of the book are specific to women and cars.
The “they” that deemed electric cars to be for women didn’t have much of a voice after the widespread arrival of dependable electric self-starters. More important today: IIRC, women influence better than half of all new vehicle purchases. What effect will this have on a green motoring future? Given that more than 50% of the single-occupant SUVs I see on my commute are driven by women, I’m not sure the answer is as straightforward as some might think.
Hmmm – I didn’t remember that Rosie’s feet rest on a copy of Mein Kampf. Norman Rockwell is always good for little details like that.

What does this have to do with "green?"

Tgrozier, It's green because I am searching for alternative view of the history of electric cars. The main advantages to gas cars today are gas stations. That did not exist so why did the electric car lose out? The thing you hear a lot was it was not manly. That electric cars were for woman. I think that sounds stupid and want a real history. Don't you?
