Kansas now has 21 E85 stations
Following recent additions of gas stations offering E85 in Edwardsville, Overbrook, Parsons, Garnett and Topeka, there are now 21 gas stations in Kansas that will sell you the biofuel, according to the High Plains Journal, which gives the locations of some of these stations in their article. The state's ethanol promotion is covered by the Kansas Corn Commission, and the exact location of the 21 stations are available at ksgrains.com, the Kansas Ethanol Information website. The HPJ spoke with Kansas Corn Commission Executive Director Jere White, who said that pump ethanol prices have been running between 20 and 60 cents below regular unleaded gas in the past few months and that just two years ago there were just four E85 stations in the state.
"Motorists with flexible fuel vehicles can travel around the state and in most cases will be able to operate on e85 fuel if they wish," White said. So there you have it.

Good for Kansas!
Another E85 discount event today in Neola, Iowa (near Omaha). $1.85 a gallon at the local Kum & Go station.

There seems to be more E85 in Kansas than the rest of the USA.

There aren't many E85 stations where there's population.

Besides BioFuels are extremely water hungry.

And Kansas has a water crisis looming on the horizon.

Kansas Population (2006 est.): 2,764,075
Kansas E85 stations: 21
Kansas population per E85 station: 131,623
Minnesota Population (2006 est.): 5,167,101
Minnesota E85 stations (as of April, 2007): 310
Minnesota population per E85 station: 16,668
California Population (2006 est.): 36,457,549
California E85 stations: 1
California population per E85 station: 36,457,549
New York State Population (2006 est.): 19,306,183
New York State E85 stations: 2
New York State population per E85 station: 9,653,092
So you can plainly see there is a very big problem that as far as I can tell is not being addressed one bit. It's like the elephant in the room.

Well, you can always move to Minnesota, as I did. Or to anywhere in the upper Midwest. Our six state region (MN, IL, SD, ND, IA, WI) has more than 650 E85 stations now.
Want E85? Then build the infrastructure and political will needed to support this alternative fuel. Form public/private partnerships. Invest.
It isn't going to "just happen," and it won't be quick and simple.

Bob, I believe that those with a vested financial interest should be the ones to have to foot the bill to build an ethanol infrastructure. The companies who profit from ethanol sales should pay to get their product to their consumers, taxpayers shouldn't have to pay to have the corporations' product delivered to consumers. If the product isn't viable on the free market, then perhaps the product is flawed. No offense intended.

No offence taken. Following your logic, should we send the bills from Iraq to the oil companies, rather than the U.S. taxpayer?
