South Korea's energy ministry rejects five percent biodiesel blend, opts for three instead

South Korea currently uses a whopping 0.5 blend of biodiesel in its diesel fuel. Take heart, biodiesel lovers; the energy ministry said on Friday that by 2012, that percentage will skyrocket to, um, three percent. If you - like others - thought five percent by next year might be the new standard, sorry.
Reuters is reporting that the five percent number is not totally out of the question, but the three percent blend is set until the ministry reviews the plan in late 2010. Who's to blame for the delay? Reuters says it was Korea's powerful refining lobby.

Korea is one of the progressive country concering the Biofuel.
The government initiate the Blending policy of BDF(B100) at 0.5 % with the ambitious target up to 3 % will support this BioDiesel industry to grow .
Addtional to teh governmental mandatory of the blending policy. The givernment of Korea need to have a clear policy for the needed subsidies for BDF as the BDF will not be chepaer than the mineral diesel derived from teh lest cost of mineral crude oil.
With the mandatory of blending policy and teh substantial subsidies .BDF producers will be motivated to support teh country to achieve the goal of Biofuel as the alternatiave energy target

Everyone should be OK with that. Since it's all diesel sold, suppliers need wiggle room if product to make biodiesel isn't plentiful. Then there is most likely some stations that offer B20-B99.
So be happy they have biodiesel mix to be used as a fuel injection cleaner + other bennifits.
