NTSA investigating Prius runaway acceleration
Recently, we told you Consumer Affairs raised concerns that the Prius may have a serious problem with control. Consumer Affairs now writes the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has "quietly opened an investigation into complaints." When pressed for details, Consumer Affairs writes, NHTSA had no further comment other than "yes" a "probe was underway." No comment from Toyota's Product Communications office.[Source: Consumer Affairs]

On August 10, 2006 my wife experience an unintended acceleration while driving 65 mph down I-70 in Colorado heading to Denver. The car accelerated to 90 mph while she had both the brake and parking brake pressed down. She looked at her feet to be sure they were on the brakes. The floor mats were not a problem here. She ended up having to exit the interstate and rocketed down a frontage road thru the small town of Lawson, narrowly missed hitting a pedestrian and then ditched the car through a forest where she somersaulted 3 times, clipping off trees 10 feet off the ground and eventually landed in a river (Clear Creek). She sustained back injuries, and abdominal ones that still plaque her today. Toyota has chosen not to take any responsibility or offer any kind of customer service. They officially blame the incident on her brakes being worn out. This was a 2005 Prius with 13,000 miles on it.

Do a youtube search on Runaway Prius and you can see our videos of our unintended acceleration trip up a river in Colorado. Also go to website: www.prius.synthasite.com. If you know of other incidents like these or if you are an expert who could explain the software glitch that led to acceleration with no feet on pedals please email tjames1313 at hotmail.

So if GM = "Who killed the electric car?"
Will Toyota = "Who did the electric car kill?"

My Prius accelerated by its self when I was turning into a mall and went over a bump in road. I had no floor mats in at the time. This was very alarming. I powered off right away and then on again and it was still in the full acceleration mode!
