Video: BMW made from ice, runs on hydrogen
The newest car in BMW's art car program is a BMW H2R race car made from ice. The BMW H2R is a concept race car made by BMW that runs on hydrogen. The car's outer shell was removed and replaced with a metal lattice and ice. The car was designed by artist Olafur Eliasson and it's on display at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in a freezer custom built for the exhibition. The freezing climate is meant to remind the public about global warming.

Yes, an "ice car" is silly, and the environmental costs of building and operating a special freezer for it is extravagant, but this is Art!
Art is often silly and extravagant, especially when artists are trying to make a name for themselves.

...and it would seem to complete the cliche to note that the artist is from...
...wait for it...
Iceland.

Clearly the folks at the SF Museum of Modern Art have a problem discerning genuine objets d'Art from sneaky product placements.
"The freezing climate is meant to remind the public about global warming" they say with rather obtuse logic. More than a few people may be left pondering the thought processes underlying that message, and I'm glad to leave it to 'em.
If people are that sensitive then I'd be more concerned were the Museum to suffer a major power outage, then it could equally associate in the minds of this highbrow audience the analogy that investing in a BMW is like pouring money down the drain.
Regarding the ICE car it is of course a no-brainer that, when applying for coverage with the "Good Hands" people, one is to avoid mention of this particular shortcoming - that should its air conditioner fail the car is likely to disappear !
