Yes! No! Maybe? Daimler and BMW still talking about next-gen A-Class
After reports earlier this summer that Mercedes-Benz and BMW might collaborate and use a common platform for the next-generation of the A-Class and the MINI were promptly denied, the story might be back on again. Mercedes needs to cut the manufacturing cost of the A and B Class models because the new models must be profitable, especially if Mercedes wants to move them into emerging markets like Russia and China. That means they need to get off of a dedicated platform. A company spokesman told Automobilwoche that Daimler is in discussions with possible partners, including BMW. Chrysler has been ruled out as a partner for this program.
