Dodge Durango hybrid manager blogs about working on the Two-Mode
The latest entry on the new Voices of Chrysler blog is from Abdullah Bazzi, the manager of the Dodge Durango hybrid program. The first Chrysler hybrids are still a year away from launch and we got a preview of the Durango and Aspen hybrids last spring at Chrysler's 2008 model introduction. Chrysler has been collaborating with Mercedes-Benz, GM and BMW on developing the Two-Mode hybrid system for light duty vehicle applications. Not only have the companies been working on the product engineering, they have also been working on vehicle assembly issues. In an unusual scenario, representatives from the partner companies have been spending time at GM's Arlington TX plant (where the Yukon and Tahoe are assembled) learning about the issues involved with building the Two-Mode hybrid-equipped vehicles.[Source: Chrysler Blog]

If only they used the two mode hybrid on something that made sence. Like the minivan (could be used as a taxi) that is used in town mostly to move families. I know they use the VM 2.8Lcrd in Europe but with the hybrid they should be able to use the VW 2.0Lcrd + hybrid and have good enough performance. A hybrid crd journey, avenger, & sebring would be also a smart choice. Plus all vehicles above are in all markets. Plus VW 2.0Lcrd is clean enough to allow the 2008 jetta TDI to be 50 state.

66Coronet, the transaxle version of the Two-Mode isn't coming out until next year in the Saturn Vue. Chrysler has said they are adding the two-mode to other platforms so it's highly likely that they will use the FWD version in some vehicles with the mini-vans being an excellent candidate.
