Enerdel to unveil lithium ion battery pack for hybrid vehicles
EnerDel, the subsidiary of Ener1 Inc that recently got some cash from the Department of Energy for battery development will be making a big announcement next Tuesday. The company plans to show off a new lithium-ion battery pack that they have developed for hybrid vehicles. The pack is initially intended to go into hybrid vehicles but it will be developed further for use in plug-in hybrids and full battery electric vehicles. EnerDel is jointly owned by Ener1 and Delphi with the latter holding a minority 19.5 percent stake. The announcement will be webcast on the company's website. The pack to be shown is functional and will now be put into a test vehicle which they expect to have running by December of this year. [Source: EnerDel]

I was a bit underwhelmed by the lack of functionality of their website. Hope that doesn't reflect on the quality of their batteries.

I didn't see anything wrong with their web site. Is this or is this not the same company that less than a month ago promised Lithium ion batteries for EV for less than $1500 in less than a year? Looks like they are delivering.

ITOCHU Corporation is a huge corporation and they are Ener1's biggest shareholder. I'd take them pretty seriously.

Capacity and price?
A HEV-sized 1.5 kWh pack for that $1500 price point isn't going to be much use for a plug-in EV.

The RackPack2 beats the EnerDel system on every front including price plus it has more features at a lower cost and the actual patents. They are at www.deviceconduit.com

Lenovo will not gurantee us that we have cells that are not defective. In fact they have confirmed that our Lenovo battery packs have the same battery cells that are know to be contaminated. I am very upset that Lenovo is not doing a similar recall of the known contaminated cells!
