Tesla's WhiteStar Albuquerque plant grows bigger (on paper)
Tesla Motors is working on a assembly plant for its upcoming WhiteStar sedan in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Albuquerque Tribune is now reporting that the plans for that plant are getting larger. The Tribune's Erik Siemers writes that Tesla representatives, including vice president of sales Darryl Siry, were in town yesterday to discuss expanding the plans. Siry said, "We're looking at a potentially larger program. The program has been much more clearly defined, and we're further along in defining what the car is. That has ramifications for our supply chain and logistics." Since the WhiteStar itself is not yet designed, the specifics of the plant have not yet been set, but apparently it's more than previously thought. Another hint that New Mexico might suit Tesla just fine came from State Economic Development Secretary Fred Mondragon, who said, "We are in discussions with them about the possibility of more than just an assembly plant." Hmmm.

I heard that there was a study on the environment problems between a Hummer & a Prius.
The professor found that in the long term that the Hummer was more environmentally safe more than the Prius. The batteries used in the Prius took a lot longer to dissolve of properly.
Is this true? I'm trying to find this study and see if it is correct or not.

How about an embargo on everything Tesla till they actually deliver a vehicle to a cash paying customer.
You're just being saps for their investment generating machine. For the last several months all the legitimate Tesla news has been mediocre to bad.

I kind if agree with the first commenter here. I mean come on, you guys heap such praise upon Tesla and yet they are complete vaporware at this point. Even the EV company ABG loves to hate, Zap, has delivered more electric drive vehicles to paying customers then Tesla whose whitestar sedan is eons away from seeing the inside of a dealer showroom.
First it was news that Tesla might indefinitely delay the plant and now it's news that they are going to make it even bigger... and these stories come from the same source. I'll believe at the ribbon cutting ceremony officially commencing operations at this facility. Until then it's just hype. Even the roadster is just hype until they actually deliver them to customers.
At the point where actual rich eccentric customers have their electric go-carts in their private, heated, mosaic porcelain tiled garages we will see if Tesla has any potential at all to survive as a hyper-exclusive niche automotive company.
